DOGE

A new core upgrade for the dog-themed meme token Dogecoin is approaching its launch, which will give a boost to its usability and performance.

Dogecoin Core 1.14.7 is the update in question and it comprises of many security improvements and bug fixes.

The update

Patrick Lodder, a Dogecoin developer, highlighted the final phase of the update, which is expected to be rolled out soon, on X.

He posted that they were entering the final phase of the release plan of the update and also noted what was left for it to sail.

Another Dogecoin developer, Inevitable 360, also tweeted a screenshot of the milestone of the new upgrade.

The screenshot showed the progress of the Dogecoin Core 1.14.7 update, which is around 97% complete.

While there is a great deal of excitement surrounding this new upgrade, the 1.21 release has been the target for the last three years, intended to provide security and bug fixes for the network.

In a post on the Dogecoin forum, Patrick Lodder said that the concept behind the 1.14.7 upgrade was to make the transition to the 1.15 version easier whenever it is released.

Moreover, it is also intended to eliminate some of the constraints to shift the focus on some important work.

Previous release

Earlier in February, Libdogecoin 0.1.3 was released and it was after a year’s worth of developing and testing the library.

A number of new features were added, which include a number of community members, like support for Android.

In 2024, Libdogecoin, the core C Library of Dogecoin, is also expected to expand its Go and Python language bindings and explore additional capabilities.

Likewise, a notable backend service for DOGE businesses, GigaWallet will also offer user-friendly APIs in 2024 and expand shopping cart integration.

According to the Dogecoin Foundation, its goals for this year include the improvement of existing projects, increased community and team participation, and launching new initiatives, such as DogeBox.

New listing

Meanwhile, the largest meme token in terms of market cap has managed to score a big listing. It will now be listed on one of the biggest crypto exchanges in Japan, Bitflyer.

The positive listing was announced by the Bitflyer crypto exchange on X. The announcement said that the exchange would start offering Dogecoin on February 29th, 2024.

This decision comes as the platform is proactively increasing the number of crypto tokens it handles to provide customers with better investment choices.

The listing news saw the price of the original meme token respond positively and it also rose alongside the increase in the broader crypto market.

At publishing time, the price of DOGE had recorded a 14% rise in the last 24 hours which saw it climb to $0.091. This was after a 6% jump was recorded in the price of Bitcoin.

Dogecoin has been rising steadily since February 23rd when it reached its support level at $0.082 and it is expected to continue.
